Fall Fun in Louisville

The chill in the air lets us know that Autumn has arrived, and with that, all our favorite things to do during this season are back! We’ve put together a list of the best fall activities to do in Louisville that reminds us why we love this change in season.

Jack O’Lantern Spectacular

October 4th – October 31st

The Jack O’Lantern Spectacular is arguably one of the best fall experiences Louisville has to offer. This family-friendly event directly supports the non-profit Parks Alliance of Louisville and the community. Presented each October, along a winding path through Iroquois Park, you will enjoy an organic art gallery of more than 5,000 artistically carved pumpkins in themed settings. This luminary art walk-through has become a tradition for thousands and is one you do not what to miss! Tickets can be purchased online and at the Iroquois Amphitheater Box Office.

Halloween on Hillcrest

Allow us to introduce or reintroduce Halloween on Hillcrest commonly known as Louisville’s Halloween Street – one of our favorite October traditions. Grab your friends and family to walk up and down the street to admire the incredible Halloween light displays of the residents’ homes. Homeowners begin decorating yards on the first Saturday of October. If you do visit Hillcrest this season, don’t forget to bring a few canned goods or other non-perishables. Milk crates along the sidewalk will be used to collect these items for United Crescent Hill Ministries, a nonprofit organization that serves the many neighborhoods the 40206-zip code.  This is guaranteed to get you in the Halloween spirit!

Fall Meet at Churchill

October 30th – November 27th

Cooler temperatures and the leaves changing colors signify the return of fall meet racing and we could not be more excited. Churchill Downs hosts some of the best Halloween events which include thrilling races, Sunday brunch, Trick or Treat at the Track, and more. We can’t think of a better way to enjoy fall fun than under the Twin Spires. Grab your hats and a mint julep and experience Churchill Downs like you never have before.

Huber’s Orchard, Winery & Vineyards

Huber’s is a year-round gem, but the fall is especially beautiful. Just a trip across the bridge brings you to the well-known winery loaded with apples, pumpkins, spiced apple wine, music on the patio, caramel apples, and more! This expansive farm allows you to take in the incredible fall weather while indulging in wine tastings and tours in the winery, lunch in the Starlight Café, and other seasonal farm activities. If you have not yet, plan your visit to Huber’s today. You will not regret it.

Gallrein Farms Fall Festival

September 17th – October 31st

What better to do when the leaves are changing than to visit some of the best farms in Kentucky? Gallrein is a family-owned and operated farm where buying fresh is an understatement. Through the fall season, they host a fall festival every weekend for the perfect day of family fun with activities, pumpkin picking, food trucks, hayrides, and more.

We could go on with the many fun fall things to do in Louisville, but these spots are the perfect way to kick off the fall season. Happy Autumn!
